Somewhat Shorter David Brooks
From the New York Times:
Wow, would you look at that tsunami!
Just remember that while God is responsible for everything good in the world, He had nothing to do with this. Not a thing.
The fault belongs squarely with nature. And God has nothing to do with that.
Okay?
Phew.
Bonus Incredibly Ugly Concluding Sentence Pulled Straight From the Text:
This is a moment to feel deeply bad, for the dead and for those of us who have no explanation.
Cry, dear reader, for those who lost their families and loved ones to the raging waters of the Indian Ocean. But shed a tear as well for the poor New York Times columnist who must write about their loss, and has nothing to say. It's tough on him, too.
Further Reason to Suspect That Brooks' First Language is not English:
"To feel deeply bad."
A hundred thousand dead and the best you can do is "to feel deeply bad"? Truly, you have gone boldly where no man has gone before.
